Eze (Dr) Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, Eze Ndigbo of Lagos State and Chairman, Council of Ndieze, has stated that an agreement has been reached for Igbos in Lagos to be united.

“We have an issue, political issue, before, now we made our position known, and all Igbos resolved that we should go for dialogue, and we have dialogued, and in the dialogue we resolved that all of us must work together and come together in making sure that Ndigbo are united,” Nwachukwu stated.

The revered monarch made the disclosure at a peace meeting brokered by the Lagos State Government/Ohanaeze Ndigbo to reconcile opposing camps among the Igbo traditional rulers in the state.

The event took place at Calabar Hall, Surulere, Lagos on Tuesday.

Speaking on the way forward for Igbos in Lagos State, Nwachukwu said “The way forward for Ndigbo is that we should work together, we have agreed on the unity of Ndigbo in Lagos State and all Ndi Ezes are one, Igbo community are one, and all of us are going to team together to resolve other issues that concern Local Governments, ward level, and et cetera.”

Nwachukwu also spoke on the role played by the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos, Chief Soloman Ogbonna in reconciling his camp and that of Eze Uche Dimgba, Eze Ndigbo of Ikeja, he said “That is what should be his primary role to do, in bringing us, Igbo together for unity, and for things in the front, because as you know, Ndigbo is the second largest ethnic community in Lagos State and as such we have agreed on the supremacy of Igbo leadership, so unity must reign.”

Eze Nwachukwu said Igbos must not be behind due to internal squabbles and therefore they have agreed to put disagreements behind them in order to move forward.

He declared that peace has come. “There are things we have been doing, we continue doing them to mobilize our community in local governments and ward level for the interest of 2023 election for the party, APC.”
