Hon. Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, Representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 on Thursday, raised concerns over incessant vandalisation of government assets in the south eastern part of the country.
Idimogu who is also the House Committee Chairman on Wealth Creation and Employment, Lagos State during a press conference, urged indigenes of the eastern region to shun violence and work harmoniously in ensuring safety of lives and properties.
The Lagos based politician appealed to those behind the mayhem and chaos ravishing the five states, to desist from further damages on national and state assets.
Apparently worried on recent vandals on Independent National Electoral Commission, Police formations and Correctional Centres, he tasked Ndigbo to embrace peace and unity to stop the violence.
According to him, burning of assets in recent times is strange and unconventional among the Igbos, noting that such incidents only occurred outside the geo-political zone during the EndSAR protest.
He urged the Igbo nation to be wise and protect available assets of government and private owned institutions.
Idimogu who also condemned attack on security personnel within the region, maintained that such dastardly act would further engender the lives of people.
He kicked against any form of referendum or disintegration which according to him will further create pandemonium for the citizenry.
”My appeal to my brothers and sisters over there is for us to protect our structures. Structures of the federal government or state belong to us. Its our own and nobody can come and remove those assets, so instead of destroying those properties why don’t we work on how to get more and develop the ones available.
“We are just exposing ourselves to crime and attacks. The way and manners we are going about burning government properties will not help us because I believe there are better ways of doing things.
“Two wrongs do not make a right. I believe in the entity called Nigeria because Nigeria cannot break. I don’t see any good leader who will support the disintegration of this country,” Idimogu added.
