CIPR holds in-house training session for her members

In a bid to serve the University Community better, increase job satisfaction and improve productivity, the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR) on Friday, 24th March 2023, held an in-house training session for her members at the Centre’s Office on the 3rd Floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The topic of the training session;“Work Ethics” was discussed by the Acting Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), Mr. Olaniyi S. Jeariogbe.

Mr. Jeariogbe enlightened members on the work ethics that are very essential for the success of any organization and equally urged them to be friendly with the University's Condition of Service. Some of the work ethics mentioned include but not limited to; appearance, attendance, attitude, character, communication, responsibility, Loyalty teamwork, honesty, fairness, teamwork, integrity, respect and loyalty.

Recalling the Core Values of the Centre which include; professionalism, excellence and passion, the trainer added that employees with strong work ethics are highly motivated and produce high quality results consistently.

Speaking further, the Acting Coordinator said “….let us be reminded that these aforementioned work ethics and values mould us as a people into more responsible and more determined group of individuals, as well as, impacts all the activities of our day to day life”.

Mr. Jeariogbe noted signs of good work ethics to be reliability and dependability; dedication to the job; productivity that doesn’t quit; self discipline; cooperation and teamwork. 

He averred that there is a difference between ethics and professionalism with ethics being the guidelines that states the dos and don’ts in a specific context and professionalism being specific traits that are expected of a professional.

The training session was well attended by members of staff at the Centre who also made meaningful contributions.

At the end of the training session at the Centre, questions were asked and answers were given.

The Chairman, Training Committee, Mr. Dahood Gbadegesin gave the vote of thanks.
