Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and member, Federal Housing Authority, Chief Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa Achina) has appealed to Ndigbo in Lagos State to vote for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the second term.
Umenzekwe
who made the call in his office while speaking to journalists maintained that
the workaholic governor has performed excellently well in his first tenure and
should be supported once again.
He said “I
am appealing to my people, Ndigbo in Lagos State to make sure they come out en mass
on Saturday, March 11, 2023, to vote for His Excellency, the Executive Governor
of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the second term.
“The
governor has shown capacity, his government has strengthened the cordial
relationship existing between the Igbos and the Yorubas in Lagos State, since the
inception of his administration, one now sleeps with two eyes closed, I am
talking about security, he has ensured security of lives and property, and he
has done a lot in infrastructural development, he really deserves another
term,” Umenzekwe stated.
While
answering questions about those who felt hurt by the administration, Umenzekwe
advised “Governance is not as easy as many thinks, the APC Government in Lagos
State understands the need of every segment of the society and is taking steps
to address them, those who did not get deserved attention in the first term will
definitely be attended to in the second term in line with the resources
available to the state, it is also a matter of one step at a time, so nobody
should feel left out.”
He also
advised his people on the need to support the government where they reside and
do business. “I am calling on my brothers and sisters in Lagos to realize the
importance of supporting the government in power in Lagos State, it would
further cement the cordial relationship between the government and the people,
especially on the ease of doing business in the state,” Umezekwe said.
Umenzekwe
also appealed to Ndigbo in Lagos State to disregard any threat by those fanning
the embers of disunity, saying that such threat did not emanate from the
government of Lagos State and that the Igbos should come out in their numbers
to cast their votes.
