Mbaise people
have gone into celebration over the resignation of their embattled Bishop,
Peter Okpalaeke.
In a
telephone chat with a Reverend father (name withheld), he said the celebration
was incomparable.
“The
celebration here is incomparable, immediately the news of Okpalaeke’s resignation
filtered in, the entire diocese was thrown into celebration, for one, it came
when we were not expecting it.
“Parishes,
families and individuals who can afford it have killed cows, while others are
doing one thing or the other to mark the victory in Mbaise,” the Reverend said.
He further
stated that with this victory, it is another precedent for the Papacy in the
appointment of Bishops, not just in Africa, but in the world as a whole.
