Okere calls for calm over arrest of President of Ohanaeze Lagos Chapter

Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos Chapter, Evelyn Okere,  has called on all Ndigbo in the state to be calm over the arrest of the state President Chief (Dr) Solomon Ogbonna by the Department of Security Service (DSS).

Okere made this appeal in a release made available to Newworldnewsng on Thursday.

She stated that as the Publicity Secretary of the organization in Lagos, it is important to ensure that members of the group in the state remain calm while investigations on the matter continue.

It would be recalled that the state President was arrested recently by the DSS and later released.

According to Okere, Ogbonna was arrested over issues bordering on alleged escape from prison where he supposed to serve a 20years jail term.  “It was alleged that he escaped  from a 20 years jail term in 2004 November and escaped in 2005 April in another man’s uniform, in Vennia, Austria.”

She also revealed that Chief Ogbonna is being investigated for alleged embezzlement of over N400m from Ohaneze Lagos from the just concluded election, the money he allegedly collected in the name of the group without remitting same to the organization’s purse.

Evelyn further disclosed in the release that Ogbonna was also being investigated for alleged perjury wherein he swore an affidavit that he has certificate, “While he did not complete his primary school.  He committed piracy by stealing one Alphonse book on art and culture, and placed his name as Dr Solomon Ogbonna. He claimed it took 3yrs to write the book.

“He was also accused of human trafficking, that he has taken 400 people to Europe for that purpose,” Okere said.

Okere also told Newworldnewsng  that a press conference will soon be called to address the issue bordering on the arrest
